Academics at Visitation
Schools have a responsibility to encourage students to seek
the selves they can become, and St. Francis De Sales exhorted that we should be
who we are and be that well. At Convent of the Visitation School,
the faculty and staff work diligently to provide each student an educational
experience that is second to none – one that keeps well the life of the mind.
Visitation embraces a philosophy of education that includes
an embodiment of virtues, a pedagogical compass, and an engine of ideas. And
Visitation is committed to the following ideals: Salesian values, skilled teaching, and a forward-thinking
curriculum. These elements are eminently present within the school as well as out
in the greater community thanks to Visitation’s alumnae.
Also embedded in a healthy academic environment should be a
number of other traits, such as straightforwardness, open-mindedness, integrity
of purpose, and responsibility. All of these traits combine to create an
educated person – the type of person that is shaped daily at Visitation.
As Aristotle said, “We are what we repeatedly do.
Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”
It is no accident that educational excellence is a mainstay of
Visitation’s school mission.
