Welcome to the Lower School

The world is a miraculous place for children. Virtually anything is a springboard for learning, from the shape of a stop sign to the reason it rains some days and not others. At Visitation, we value this keen sense of wonder by ensuring that the joys of discovery are part and parcel of every day. We are blessed with a strong academic program, engaged students, masterful faculty, and involved parents.

Our exemplary faculty and staff guide each child toward new levels of educational excellence, working with individual students to maximize his or her potential. We challenge our students to be active participants in their educational journey. Integration of curriculum throughout each day and across subject areas encourages students to make connections and motivates them to more fully immerse themselves in the learning process.

Visitation School is committed to providing a holistic education, keeping students' social, emotional, academic, and spiritual development at the forefront of everything we do. We gather as a Lower School community for convocations where we build bridges between classrooms and strengthen student leadership skills. All Lower School students are paired with a Friday Friend, who share ideas and friendship throughout the year. Our students learn valuable life skills, such as empathy and compassion, by participating in student-led service projects. Through these opportunities of service to others, our students exemplify the school motto, Non Scholae, Sed Vitae, Not for School but for Life.

At Visitation we understand how critical the early years are, and it is our life's work to get them right. We foster intellectual curiosity and gentle spirituality – gifts that last a lifetime – tailored to meet each child's individual needs. Visitation provides an environment in which a child is known, loved, and nurtured while being challenged to be a positive contributor within today's global society.
