Close indoor contact with others increases the chance of sharing germs such as the flu. Currently we have an increase in intestinal flu and respiratory illnesses. To minimize the chance that your child would get the flu, the Health Office offers some suggestions.
PREVENT THE SPREAD OF GERMS
- Teach your child to wash hands thoroughly and often. Always wash before eating food and after using the restroom. Hand washing is the single most important means of preventing the spread of infection.
- Teach your child not to share eating utensils or drink containers with others (including family members).
- Teach your child to cough and sneeze into the sleeve.
- Keep your children home when they are ill. If you know they have an illness or fever in the morning or night before please keep your child home.
If your child becomes ill at school (fever, vomiting, diarrhea) he or she will be EXCLUDED FROM SCHOOL THE FOLLOWING DAY, possibly extending the 24-hour exclusion period. Please see page 19 of the Student Handbook for the Health Office policies regarding illness and return to school.
