Middle School Music Curriculum
It is the primary goal of the Middle School Music department to nurture the human spirit of each student through developing his/her full musical potential. The curriculum teaches lifelong skills in active music making, creates discriminating music listeners and deepens understanding of the world interpreted through music. Sixth grade begins with an introduction to musical concepts through theory and enrichment. Seventh grade is designed to provide students with a strong, varied, choral program that continues through their eighth grade year. Basic skills and concepts are continually expanded and nurtured with more emphasis on language and expressive movements. The eighth grade year is capped off by an annual choir trip to Chicago in which the students are very involved with the planning. |
