Over the
past several months the athletic department, along with Visitation school as a whole, has been searching for ways to
contain costs without adversely affecting the quality of our programs.
Several
options were considered, but the one that seemed to provide the greatest amount
of cost savings, and did not directly impact the quality of the athletic
program, was to discontinue bus service for Saturday athletic contests that are
held in the Twin Cities area.
Coaches will be responsible for letting athletes
know what time they need to be at the away venue, and parents are responsible
for supervising transportation to and from that venue.
In these challenging
economic times, discontinuing Saturday buses seems to be the best alternative
of all of the ideas proposed to reduce spending.
We hope
this decision is temporary and that we can eventually restart bussing again to
Saturday events.
