Founders’ Day Celebration: Honoring Saints Francis de Sales and Jane de Chantal

On Wednesday, January 27 the entire school gathered for a Prayer Service in honor of our Founders, Saint Francis de Sales and Saint Jane de Chantal.

Characteristic of many of our events this year, the focus was on the commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary.

In very moving talks, seniors Becca F. and Claire K. shared reflections on the way in which Visitation and Salesian spirituality have touched their lives.

Sister Mary Frances Reis ’55, VHM, of the North Minneapolis Monastery, traced a thread of how the Sisters’ motto, Live Jesus, has guided her in pursuing unexpected relationships.

Elliott Hays and Wendy Short Hays’ dramatic reading of a piece they wrote on Saint Francis and Saint Jane’s early encounters, and their motives for beginning the Visitation Order in 1610, was a capstone for the event.

Our Chamber Choir and Orchestra seasoned the celebration, in particular, with their performance of “God of My Heart,” a piece written for the 400th anniversary by Randi Rexroth Grundahl, Choir Director.

Thank you all for sharing your time, talents and reflections.
