The search
for a service project for the spring began in earnest for the seniors on
Friday, January 8, 2010.
The students
attended the Senior Project Service Fair in the Visitation dining room, where
nine agencies and organizations had set up displays with information about
their work.
The Service Fair encouraged
the seniors to look around at the variety of possibilities for service and
broaden their view of how they might spend their time this spring and with
whom.
The
possible service choices at the Service Fair ranged from local to global
places, from working with the young to working with the elderly, and from being
companions of others through therapeutic riding or the visual arts.
Most seniors were please with this beginning
step of information gathering, but many were anxious to just sign up and get
going.
Over the next six weeks, the
seniors will continue to learn more about service sites and choose what will be the best
fit for them.
