Why Vis? In this month's View from Vis blog, Upper School Director Anna Barter has some heartfelt answers to that question, particularly in regard to Visitation's impact on herself, the students and the broader community. Please read this month's blog post to see some of Dr. Barter's answers to why Vis is such a compelling place.
Our last, all school out-of-uniform day will be held on Friday, May 26, with all donations going to support the 6th Annual St. Jude Theatre of Dreams. The event celebrates families, the theater and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
All donations will go directly to support the work of St. Jude Children's Research. Although sophomores and Lower School students will be celebrating and dressing for field day on the 26th, we ask that ALL students still make their donations on that day. Please be generous!
St. Jude has the world's highest survival rates for the most aggressive childhood cancers and has helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to 80%. St. Jude freely shares the research and breakthroughs they make, saving lives of children all over the world. Perhaps most impressive is that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
Several Visitation LS students sit on the St. Jude Kid Committee, and last year the committee raised over $18,000. In the process, they learn about serving other kids while developing themselves into the philanthropists of tomorrow.
