| Portrait of the 21st Century Visitation Graduate The Portrait of the 21st Century Graduate describes the skills, qualities, attributes, and virtues we hope each Visitation graduate embodies. Underpinning this Portrait are the school's mission and Salesian heritage. As educators, in partnership with parents, we work diligently to ensure that each student has the opportunity to develop each aspect of this Portrait to his or her fullest potential. Faith and Values Formed by the Scriptures, Catholic tradition, prayer and Salesian spirituality, the Visitation graduate:
- understands and is able to articulate the core teachings of the Catholic Church
- participates in the life and worship of the faith community
- continues to be in right relationship with God, each other and all of creation
- recognizes and respects the similarities and differences among religions of the world
Educational Excellence Formed by the discipline of intellectual work, the Visitation graduate:
- possesses skills of speaking, writing and communicating knowledge clearly
- displays a love of learning and ability to evaluate information
- has mastered content needed for further education
- thinks logically, critically and creatively
- analyzes and generates solutions to problems
- continues to deepen her/his education so that knowledge evolves into wisdom.
Aesthetics Formed by education in and exposure to the arts at Visitation, the graduate:
- appreciates beauty in its natural or created forms
- explores opportunities for creative self-expression
- integrates aesthetics with academic knowledge
Citizenship/Global Responsibility Formed by a multi-cultural program of studies and local/global service opportunities, the Visitation graduate:
- embraces a lifestyle grounded in Salesian simplicity
- appreciates diversity in a pluralistic global society
- is an involved citizen in the local and global community
- respects and preserves the environment
- acts to promote a just and peaceful society
Interpersonal Formed by the Salesian charisms of gentleness, humility, simplicity and hospitality, the Visitation graduate:
- demonstrates sincerity and care in relationships
- is skilled at collaborative tasks
- communicates appropriately, confidently and honestly
- resolves conflicts respectfully
Leadership Formed by a Salesian education which intentionally creates opportunities for leadership, the Visitation graduate:
- possesses an internal moral compass allowing for courageous decision making
- is able to be both a team player as a leader or follower
- takes initiative in organizing a group of peers for effective action
Physical Formed by strong health, physical education, athletic and activities programs, the Visitation graduate:
