Welcome to the Visitation Choral Department
The
choral department at Visitation provides exciting musical opportunities
for all levels of singers. We offer two curricular choirs that meet
during our school day and one extra curricular choir that
meets once a week after school.
Bel Canto
Bel Canto is an SSA ensemble that is open to ALL 9th, 10th, 11th,
and 12th grade students. There is no audition necessary. In this class,
students will learn the basics of singing, including correct breathing
techniques, posture, and performance practices. Students are also
welcome to take this course as many years as they might want. Bel Canto
performs a varied repertoire of music from many different eras,
cultures, and styles. Students who are enrolled in Bel Canto will have private vocal instruction, opportunities for performance travel, and be
expected to perform on 4 concerts during the school year.
This is a
FULL YEAR course.
Chamber Choir
Chamber Choir is an SSAA ensemble that is open to 10th, 11th, and
12th grade students, who have completed one year of Bel Canto, and/or
have auditioned with Mrs. Rexroth. In this class, students will
continue to perfect proper singing, breathing, and performance
techniques. These skills will be honed while performing a varied
repertoire of music from many different eras, cultures, and styles.
Students who are enrolled in Chamber Choir will have private vocal instruction, opportunities for performance travel, and be expected to perform
on, at least, 4 concerts during the school year.
This is a FULL YEAR
course.
VISTA Choir
VISTA Choir is a new
ensemble that includes singers from Visitation and St. Thomas. This is
an SATB Ensemble that meets once a week, after school for an hour of
rehearsal. VISTA Choir allows students to experience a choir
that will prepare them for their college singing experience. Students
will learn the basics of singing, including correct breathing
techniques, posture, and performance practices and will perform a
varied repertoire of music from many different eras, cultures, and
styles.
