Mrs. Rexroth's Choir

"The choral program at Visitation allows me to expand my education in singing and music theory through rare opportunities such as participating in the American Choral Directors Festival, the Mendota Heights Tree Lighting Ceremony, and an in-school workshop with renowned artist, J.D. Steele. Students in the choir classes choose to be there which creates a rich blend of voices and talent; a great environment to make friends, relax in the middle of a hard day at school, and learn valuable techniques to carry our music education to the Visitation community and other communities we encounter in our lives.

Information about Choir Tour

March 12-17, 2011

Tour includes:

All transportation on a deluxe motorcoach with restroom and VHS/DVD

3 nights at a hotel and two nights on the coach

All taxes and gratuities on all included items

Mass

Music Features:

2 quality music performances and 2 private clinic/workshops at a college or university

Sightseeing:

Gaylord Opryland Resort, Parthenon, Ryman Auditorium, Bicentennial Mall State Park, Opry Mills, Hermitage, souvenir stop at the Hard Rock Café, Country Music Hall of Fame with Studio B Tour, Jackson Showboat with Dinner and Show and a Show at the Grand Ole Opry

The choral department at Visitation provides exciting musical opportunities for all levels of singers. We offer two curricular choirs that meet during our school day and one extra curricular choir that meets once a week after school. The Visitation Choral Department has participated in many opportunities in the past years. Last fall, both curricular choirs were featured at the Minnesota American Choral Directors Association Fall Convention at St. Olaf College. We performed in the newly renovated Boe Chapel and the experience of singing for a room full of choral conductors will not be forgotten. Last year also brought the opportunity for travel. Bel Canto, Chamber Choir, and the VISTA Orchestra experienced New York City for 4 whirlwind days. We saw a Broadway show, sang with a local inner city school, and saw the sights.

This school year we are looking forward to celebrating the 400th Anniversary of the Founding of the Visitation Order. In honor of this special year the Sisters commission a new song, "God of My Heart", composed by Randi Grundahl Rexroth, that will be sung at every Mass and on all of the choral concerts this year. The world premiere of this piece will be at the first All School Opening Mass on September 25th.
