Sister Suzanne Hofmeyer and Sister Mary Frances Reis joined us for our first Social Justice Day. A day where our Middle and Upper School students engaged heart and mind while creating positive changes.
Library and Resources
Our Library & Learning Center is a vibrant, centrally located space for all our community members. With a collection of more than ten thousand books and videos, a display shelf of newspaper and magazine subscriptions, a Heritage Edition of The St. John's Bible, and access to online databases, including those available through ELM (the Electronic Library for Minnesota), the Visitation Library & Learning Center is a great support for faculty, staff, and students.
Lower School students have regular visits to the Library & Learning Center to choose books, learn proper library procedures, and use and learn various kinds of technology. iPads, laptops and other device applications support their studies. Our Middle School students take part in a five session Library and Research Skills class to help them develop skills to be successful in the classroom now and in the future. Middle School students visit the library monthly to check out books as a class and also come on their own time. The Upper School students regularly use the space to study, check out books on their own time, and will visit with their classes as needed.
Within the Library & Learning Center is a 25-station, desktop computer lab and an IDEA Lab complete with a collaboration wall, green screen, and a computer with a large display for collaborative work. These spaces are utilized by students in every grade. Print and online materials and equipment are purchased for curriculum support and for recreational reading. Standard reviewing sources, technology advice, "best books" lists, and student and teacher suggestions are used to help select materials. The Library & Learning Center is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit your school library today!
