Library and Resources
The Visitation School Library houses more than 10,000 books and videos, a Heritage Edition of the St. John's Bible and provides access to online databases, including those available through Infobase and ELM (eLibraryMN). Although the library space is closed to students and faculty this year, the resources are still available for students and faculty.
Lower School students have regular visits from the Library Media Specialist in their home classrooms to listen to a read-aloud, checkout books, and begin to learn information literacy skills. Our Middle School students take part in information literacy classes to help them develop skills to be successful in the classroom now and in the future. Middle School students have a monthly opportunity to check out books during their English class and can also place requests on their own time. The Library Media Specialist visits Upper School classes as needed, and students can place requests for books on their own.
Print and online materials are purchased for curriculum support and for recreational reading. Standard reviewing sources, technology advice, "best books" lists and student and teacher suggestions are used to help select materials.
