Janet Karvonen's Shooting and Offensive Skills Camp
June 10 & 11
9 a.m. - Noon
Girls in Grades 5-12
During her career, Janet Karvonen was regarded as one of the nation’s premier jump shooters. She has developed a method of shooting instruction using video analysis, detailed feedback and a positive approach. Players can make immediate changes and improvements to their shooting form that will ignite their summer improvement.
Players will be grouped according to age. Players should bring their own ball and water bottle, and wear a mask.

More about Janet Karvonen
Janet Karvonen became a household name in Minnesota when she led the New York Mills Eagles to three consecutive state championships, scoring more points (3,129) than any boy or girl in state history. A first-team Parade All-American and the National High School Player of the Year, she appeared in two Final Fours for Old Dominion University and Louisiana Tech University. She has run Karvonen Montgomery Basketball (KMB) summer camp for 32 years.
Along with Visitation Coach Faith Johnson Patterson, Janet was inducted into the inaugural class of the Minnesota Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018. Janet serves as an ordained pastor at Incarnation Lutheran Church in Shoreview, Minn.
Pro Level Training with Khalid El-Amin
Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, June 14 - July 23, 3-5 p.m.
Exception: July 12, 14 & 16, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Girls in Grades 5-12
Led by former NBA player and North High School standout, Khalid El-Amin, Pro Level Training will focus on skills training with an emphasis on strength, conditioning and performance. Pro Level Training will provide in-depth analysis of each player's conditioning and footwork. The sessions will also include discussions around nutritional goals and how off-court activities can benefit the on-court game.
Training will be held at Visitation School. Covid protocols will be followed.
More about Khalid El-Amin
Khalid El-Amin led Minneapolis North High School to three straight state championships, was named a McDonald's All-American, three-time Minnesota State Player of the Year and 1997 Minnesota Mr. Basketball. He went onto play college basketball at University of Connecticut where he was named Big East Conference Rookie of the Year and helped lead U Conn to the 1999 NCAA national championship. He was drafted in 2000 by the Chicago Bulls.
