Days For Girls Event Recap
Visitation Upper School students participated in the Days for Girls educational and service event at Visitation on Saturday, April 24. Days for Girls is a national organization whose mission is to elevate the social wellness and dignity of women and girls around the world and give them increased access to education and other opportunities in their communities by providing them with reusable and sustainable feminine hygiene products.
The Days for Girls event included guest speakers and educators on girls' and women's menstrual health and the ongoing issue of period poverty in the United States. Students also had the opportunity to engage in service by sewing and assembling the menstrual hygiene kits.
According to Visitation Social Studies Teacher and Days for Girls event coordinator Amanda Rosas, "This was a successful event because of our community's participation and our shared goal of creating educational and empowered opportunities for women."
