Vis/STA Aquatics Center Project
Since its opening in 1965 within O’Shaughnessy Hall, the pool at Saint Thomas Academy has been a cornerstone for both Visitation School and Saint Thomas Academy, amassing nearly 25 state championships between both schools over its impressive 57-year history. Beyond hosting championships, this aquatic facility has been a vital community asset.
However, as the pool has faithfully served its purpose, it is now time to acknowledge its well-deserved retirement. The joint decision has been made to boldly step into the future by constructing a new, state-of-the-art aquatic center for the combined Saint Thomas Academy and Visitation communities.
This modern facility will not only serve as a training and competition venue for our student-athletes but will also become a hub for curriculum-based initiatives for both schools. Additionally, it will provide a premier high school aquatic center for competitive swimmers from across the Twin Cities, welcoming participants from swim clubs and CAA schools.
We invite you to join Visitation School and Saint Thomas Academy in this exciting endeavor to build a new aquatic center, propelling our facilities into the future. This initiative marks a significant milestone in our commitment to providing top-notch facilities for our students and the broader community.
We are thrilled to announce that the campaign to fund this project has raised $10 million. Chip Michel (STA '67), and his wife, Mary, led the effort with a generous $4 million donation. We aim to fully fund the project at $12 million.
