A Year-End Message From Head of School Rene Gavic

A message from Head of School Rene Gavic

Hard to believe it’s the end of May! We are completing another wonderful year in our school’s 150-year history. A year that again included remarkable accomplishments by our students -- in the classroom, athletic fields and in the arts. These final days of school are filled with excitement for summer and end-of-the-year ceremonies, celebrating a culmination of a year of hard work, learning and growing in our faith.

Throughout this school year we focused on the virtue of gratitude and the quote by Saint Jane de Chantal, “God, I give you infinite thanks.” We give thanks to all of you, our students, faculty, staff, parents, Board of Trustees, volunteers and our entire Visitation community – we are grateful to partner with you on this incredible journey.

A highlight of this school year was the many ways we celebrated our 150th anniversary. Faculty and staff prepared meaningful connections for our students to create a heightened appreciation for our history, the ability to pause and recognize this moment in time – And to acknowledge that we are all part of something bigger than ourselves and bigger than this moment. I invite you to join Visitation School and our 150th-anniversary celebrations the weekend of August 11-13. I look forward to seeing each of you throughout the weekend of events.

This week we celebrate fifth grade and eighth grade graduations. We know our fifth and eighth graders are prepared to move on to the next level of their academic careers. On Sunday, we will celebrate the Class of 2023 at the Cathedral of Saint Paul. Our graduates are poised and ready to make a difference in this world. I can’t wait to see what they do next!

On this Feast Day of the Visitation, we recall the joyful meeting of Mary and Elizabeth in the gospel story of the Visitation. Just as those two holy women expressed God’s life-giving presence in their lives, we gathered together last Friday for a prayer service to offer our gratitude for the ways God has been present to us this year. I invite you to enjoy the slideshow and see the joy, gratitude and spirit of Visitation that permeates our school community.

I hope you all enjoy the slower pace of summer days.

Live + Jesus,
