All School Out-of-Uniform Day on Friday, March 14

A message from Kathleen Daniewicz, Director of Campus Ministry:

All school out-of-uniform day will be Friday, March 14.

This Friday, March 14, is an all-school out-of-uniform day. All money collected this month will be donated to the Neighbors, Inc. food shelf as a part of their MN FoodShare campaign. Neighbors provides emergency and supportive assistance programs to low-income community members in northern Dakota County.

The Minnesota Food Share March campaign helps almost 300 food shelves across Minnesota, which provide food for the over 1 million Minnesotans who live in households struggling to put food on the table. Funds raised by each food shelf this month play a role in how much FoodShare funding they receive later in the year – so a donation now goes even further than usual. Let’s help them continue their good work. Cash donations will be collected in homerooms. Checks may be made out to Visitation Campus Ministry or directly to Neighbors, Inc. Thank you for your generosity.

Lenten Food Collection

March is Minnesota Food Share Month, an annual campaign that helps to restock almost 300 food shelves across Minnesota A recent study by Second Harvest Heartland shows that 20 percent of Minnesota households are food insecure, the emergency food system supports 18 percent of the state, and 30 percent of households in Minnesota are not confident about having enough food in the next year. Food shelf visits over the last year have also set yet another record.

The Upper School Service Club is sponsoring a Lenten food collection from now through April 1. All food collected will be donated to the Neighbors, Inc. food shelf as a part of their MN FoodShare campaign. Most of us at Visitation are blessed with not having to worry about where our next meal will come from. Let’s do our part to help those for whom this is a daily concern.

Please drop donations of non-perishable foods in the large collection box in the Heart or on the red table in the Campus Ministry Commons. Let’s help ensure that no one in Dakota County needs to go to bed hungry. Thank you for your generosity.

Please contact Kathleen Daniewicz, Director of Campus Ministry, with any questions about the retreat.
