Tastes of Asia Cooking Class

A Message from Chinese Teacher, Chen Laoshi (Mrs. Van Sloun):

It’s time to have some cooking fun and enjoy delicious Asian food! I’m excited to offer “Fun Cooking Classes with Chen Laoshi (Mrs. Van Sloun) - Tastes of Asia” to our Lower School students. We will learn to make some famous foods that you may have never tried before, using fresh and authentic ingredients. 

Eating freshly made food has always been my passion and lifestyle. I find it’s important to help our kids understand that eating healthy and freshly made food can help us live healthier, happier and better. I enjoy cooking with kids, and we will have lots of fun making Asian food together. 

When:
Mondays, after school, 2:45 - 3:45 p.m.
Sept. 26, Oct. 3, 10, 17 & 24

2nd - 5th-graders

Menu:
Five cooking classes

  1. Make your own paper apron / Chinese handmade green onion pancakes
  2. Japanese sushi
  3. Fresh Thai spring rolls
  4. Popular Boba tea/juice (plus Japanese Mochi if time permits)
  5. Handmade Chinese dumplings to take home

Class activities:

  1. Participants will have hands-on opportunities to make authentic Asian food. Students will have the opportunity to taste the sample food in class. 
  2. Chen Laoshi (Mrs. Van Sloun) will be the only one who will handle and use the electric stove when we need to cook the food. 
  3. All participants will receive a handmade recipe notebook with participants' individual/group photos after finishing all classes as a souvenir to take home. 

Cost:
$80 per student for 5 classes; fee includes all ingredients and supplies. 

Cash or a check (made out to “Priscilla Van Sloun”) can be paid directly to Chen Laoshi (Mrs. Van Sloun). 

A minimum of 8 students are required in order to offer this class.
