A message from Kathleen Daniewicz, Campus Ministry:
Thank you to everyone who contributed so generously to our Thanksgiving collections. Our Lower School classes and Middle School advisories prepared family baskets for 25 families, who each received an overflowing box of fresh and non-perishable foods, a large turkey breast, and a roasting pan. We also collected $4,500 in donations of cash and Cub Foods gift cards (the cash was used to purchase more cards).
All of the food baskets and gift cards were delivered to the Visitation Monastery in Minneapolis by Visitation seniors who had the opportunity to help the Sisters share the boxes with families and distribute gift cards to over 120 individuals on our traditional “Turkey Tuesday.”
Thank you to all of our Visitation families, students, faculty, staff and alumnae for your wonderful generosity which helped so many people celebrate a special Thanksgiving this year.
Please be sure to read this thank you letter from the Sisters below:
Dear Mendota Vis Students, Faculty, Parents and Staff,
Once again, you built a steady Bridge of Generosity, Friendship and HOPE this Thanksgiving spanning over to Minneapolis Vis! Six seniors represented you well, sharing food baskets, Cub gift cards, hats, socks, and gloves. One senior said she was amazed at the gratitude of those receiving Thanksgiving Hope, whether it was a person living on the streets or a homeless mom of three little ones. Another senior expressed that for her it was a life-changing experience. The tradition of 35 years continues, and there are no words we Visitation Sisters can find to adequately thank you!
Between families coming for baskets and those coming for Cub cards, I would estimate that some 200 people passed through our doors. Each and every one prayed for you, your families and loved ones. Here is an excerpt from the prayer they said as they received your gift:
Creator God, we thank you for all the ways
that you care for us. Bless our Families
And bless those who have provided
these wonderful Thanksgiving gifts.
Amen.
Please be assured of our prayerful presence and continuing mindfulness as we all participate in the formation and education of our beautiful young people.
Gratefully,
Sister Mary Frances Reis & the Minneapolis Visitation Sisters and their Neighbors
P.S. A special thanks to Mrs. Daniewicz who is tireless In her service.
