Lower School Director's Notes

A message from Director of Lower School, Jessica Hallin:

Greetings Lower School Families,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend, and that you had time to relax and enjoy family. My family and I enjoyed a trip to the family cabin, and then a fun-filled day at the State Fair. The fair is one of our favorite places, and we attend at least once each year. This year we tried new foods, enjoyed people-watching, and I personally got a kick out of running into Visitation families and students. What a true joy!

This week the Lower School looks forward to building community and a sense of our Lower School identity. We look forward to being outside on our beautiful campus and bringing the joy of learning outdoors. We are grateful to our dedicated teachers and staff that help our students engage and Live Jesus each and every day.

Our students are finding their way and place here in Lower School. They are learning about Who I Am as we as Who We Are as a Lower School. They are developing routines and practices to help them continue to grow and be challenged in academics, as well as socially. Our students have done a wonderful job with their arrival and dismissal routines. As a gentle reminder, arrival begins at 7:45 a.m. Please help us, as we do not have supervision prior to 7:45 a.m., and we want to keep all children safe and welcomed.

This week over 20 students in grades 3rd-5th will start their first sessions of Lower School Lego Robotics. We are thrilled to bring this after-school program to our Lower School students and thank Melissa Murray and Kelsey Irizarry for their amazing organization and dedication to this program. This is one of a few clubs we look forward to offering to Lower School students again this year.

Next week, 5th graders are preparing for an engaging day at Base Camp. This day will be filled with team building for our Lower School leaders. Also next Thursday, Sept. 15 at 6:30 p.m.,we look forward to welcoming parents for Back to School Parent Night. This event will give parents an opportunity to hear from our Head of School Rene Gavic and myself, our Parents' Association, to see each specialists and their spaces, and we will wrap up in the classroom teacher’s space. We look forward to seeing parents and adult family members there!

Enjoy this beautiful week full of sunshine and love!  As always, I thank you for your partnership and for the honor of serving your families.

Much appreciation,

Jessica Hallin
