A message from Director of Lower School, Jessica Hallin:

Greetings Lower School Families,

After such an amazing Homecoming week of fun and beautiful opening Mass and flag-raising, it felt wonderful going into last weekend with a grateful heart. As our students stood outside, with just a little rain falling, and gazed up at our flags, there was true beauty and peace between all of our students. It was a moment that hit my heart.

Celebrating a birthday with younger kids is also an experience of pure joy. I received many hugs and birthday wishes. It reminds me of how lucky I am to have our joyful Lower School community each and every day. Thank you for sharing your beautiful children with me each day.

Friday is an out-of-uniform day. This month, the Upper School Service Club has chosen to donate to Catholic Relief Services for flood relief in Pakistan and hurricane relief in Puerto Rico. Your child’s $1 donation for out-of-uniform day will support this much-needed service.

On Friday we will also hold a K-5 assembly. We will celebrate our September Salesian Stars and continue to build and focus on our strong Lower School identity. I am grateful for the opportunity to bring our students together.

Monday, Oct. 3 is Picture Day. You have the choice for your child to wear their uniform or to be out of uniform that day. Please note, what your child comes to school wearing that day is what they will remain in and be photographed wearing. We will not have time during the day for children to get changed. Thank you in advance for your support. 

We have had a fantastic fall with our after-school clubs. We are thankful for the teachers and staff willing to offer these amazing opportunities to our students. Just a reminder for the upcoming Yoga Club, please sign up by Sunday evening so that Mrs. McDaniel has a rough idea of how many plan to attend. While this is a flexible group, and students can come when it works for them, she would like an idea of how many might plan to join.

Finally, as we turn the page into October, I thank you greatly for a wonderful start to our school year. We have held celebrations and community events, and continue to build a strong, loving community this fall in our Lower School. I am proud of your wonderful children, and I thank you for your collaboration.
