Lower School Director's Notes

A message from Director of Lower School, Jessica Hallin:

Greetings Lower School Families,

This has been an amazing week already, full of love and appreciation for our teachers and staff. We thank our Parents’ Association for hosting a week of special, bonus love for our teams.

I would also love to give extra love and appreciation to our Alumnae and Community Engagement office for partnering with campus ministry and all our directors for an amazing Grandparents Day last week. Friday was a joyous day full of smiles and truly highlights who we are as a Visitation Community. You could sense and feel the faith, engagement and Salesian Spirituality all over the campus on Friday. Thank you to all who joined us and supported this wonderful tradition!

This week also has fun in store, Spirit Day is on Friday. For Spirit Day students can show their Vis Pride with a Visitation shirt, and should wear uniform bottoms. Thank you for showing your pride!

With the turning of the calendar to May, I also want to remind everyone of some special events this month. On Monday, May 8 is the fifth-grade DARE Graduation. We look forward to honoring and celebrating our 34th group of DARE graduates with Officer Mario. Thursday, May 18 is the First Communion Celebration with our second graders. Please see key details and notes from Mrs. Bateson for this lovely tradition. The Lower School Spring Showcase is also on May 18, featuring our amazing art show and talented music concert. Please be sure to see details here. Friday, May 19 is the Lower School Field Day hosted and led by our Upper School students. See your classroom teacher’s notes for more details.

Then we move into wrapping up our wonderful school year. Monday, May 22 students will participate in Move Up Day. This is a time for them to move up to their teacher for the fall. This is a special meet-and-greet with the teacher, to see their upcoming classroom and to prepare for this special rite of passage to their next grade. On Thursday, June 1, we will celebrate our fifth-grade graduation. We will join together to honor and bless our fifth graders as they prepare to move on to middle school. They are an amazing group of students and we know they are ready to soar into Middle School.

It is a busy time of year! Please reach out to me or your child’s teacher if you have any questions. We are grateful for your partnership and look forward to all the spring celebrations!
