A message from Director of Lower School, Jessica Hallin:
Greetings Lower School Families,
As we continue to cruise into May, there are so many exciting events. Last Friday, you could feel the Vis pride during Spirit Dress Day. Art Adventure volunteers returned for another engaging activity featuring animals in art. We had our Lower School assembly where our entire Montessori Pre-K to fifth-grade student body joined to celebrate Lower School events and recognize Salesian Stars of the Month.
After the assembly, we gathered together in the Mother Mary Courtyard for the annual May Crowning. A few fifth-grade student leaders helped guide and lead the Lower School in prayer, reflection and the crowning. The sun peaked out and shined down upon us as the students placed the floral crown. As Mrs. Ritzenthaler and her students discussed after the crowing, this tradition here at Visitation has gone on “for decades and decades”.
Third graders enjoyed a special field trip to downtown St. Paul on Monday. They were the lucky recipients of an invitation to enjoy the Kanneh-Mason Family performance and conversation at the Weyerhaeuser Auditorium in the Landmark Center.
On Monday Visitation graduated our 34th DARE class of fifth graders. Officer Mario and Mendota Heights Police have continued to support Visitation in this amazing opportunity, and we are thankful to all the families that came to recognize and support our fifth graders on their wonderful accomplishments.
On Tuesday, Salesian Leader joined Lower School classes. This connection to the Upper School students is one that we value and cherish and especially as these amazing, seniors prepare to graduate from Visitation and venture off on their next adventures.
On Friday, all are invited to our Ballet Showcase at 6:30 p.m. Reminder that we will be celebrating all of our second graders that have received their First Communion on Thursday, May 18. We look forward to this joyous event! That evening, we will have our Spring Showcase, which will feature Lower School Art Show and concert. Students should be in formal uniform bottoms (no shorts) and a Visitation spirit wear top.
Friday, May 19, Lower School will participate in Field Day, hosted by sophomores. We look forward to Monday, May 22 for Move Up Day, where our students get the opportunity to get a sneak peek at their classroom and teacher for next year.
It is a busy time of year and one filled with joy and love. As always, I thank you for your partnership.
With gratitude,
