A Message From Head of School Rene Gavic

A message from Head of School, Rene Gavic

Yesterday we learned of the unspeakable tragedy that occurred at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. We share in the heartbreak with those families and communities experiencing unfathomable loss. At times like this, we can turn to God and to each other for peace, guidance and hope. St. Jane de Chantal encourages us: “May our hearts be enlarged with compassionate loving support of our neighbor. Let us always be ready to serve, assist, console, support, and comfort others as much as possible.”

For all of us and especially children, situations and events like this can be scary and confusing. Visitation counselors are available as resources for our students and families. See some online resources below:

Here at Visitation, we are committed to the utmost safety and well-being of all of your children. Visitation has a comprehensive safety plan that includes controlled access to the building, partnership with Mendota Heights Police and frequent review of our safety and security procedures. We also rely on your continued partnership in working together to keep our community safe.

During times like this, especially when we feel weary, we can lean into the remarkable power of God’s redeeming love. Last night’s Lower School concert reminded all of us of the innocence and beauty in our world. I invite you to pray for peace in our hearts, peace in our communities, and peace for all those affected by this horrific tragedy.
