A message from Anita Burg, Middle School art teacher:

Middle school students picked their favorite athlete that had participated in the Paris Olympics, and constructed a paper mache model of them. This project was born out of our studying of scale and color mixing to make it look like the athlete they were depicting.

To process was fun and engaging for the students. They built a wire armature first, then used tin foil, plaster strips and paper clay to add details.
