Reading Paw Pals - K-2 Club

A message from First Grade Teacher Ann Marie Zeimetz:

What: Club for students in K-2!

My name is Mrs. Z and I love kids, reading and dogs! The main objective of this club is to provide a relaxed, dog-friendly atmosphere that allows students to practice the skill of fluent reading. Reading improves because the child is practicing the skill of reading, building self-esteem, and associating reading with something pleasant.

Who: Students in grades K-2 can sign up. Only 20 students. Registration is open to K-2 students.

Where: Meet in Mrs. Z's room right after school (Room 22) We will meet the dogs by the pond/peacock area from 2:45-3:30 p.m.

I do ask you to let me know how your child will be going home. Will they go back to Extended Day or will you pick them up by the Portress area?

If you do arrive early for pick up, for the comfort of the dogs, please do not come over to the reading area as we don’t want the “reading” dogs to be distracted. Thanks so much for understanding.

When:

Mondays from 2:45 - 3:30 p.m.:

  • September 19
  • September 26
  • October 3
  • October 10

K-2 classroom teachers will help direct your child to my classroom. We will read outside by the pond/peacocks. In case of inclement weather, we will use the Gazebo as a back up, which is behind the building by the Portress circle. I will provide a basket of books for the students to read.

Cost: $60 Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Animal Humane Society.

Please either pay by check (made out to me: Ann Marie Zeimetz) or Venmo me: AnnMarie-Zeimetz-1. Thank you! Let me know if you have any questions.

Registration will close on September 19 or once the club is full.
