Salesian Corner - Catholic Sisters Week and International Women's Day

A message from the Salesian Studies Office:

Visitation School is honored to celebrate National Catholic Sisters Week (celebrated annually March 8-14) and International Women’s Day (celebrated annually on March 8). This year, the Women ActiVISits and the Salesian Studies Office will hold a special convocation for Middle School and Upper School Students featuring the Visitation Sisters!

National Catholic Sisters Week focuses on religious women-their communities, their mission and spirituality. The week recognizes the dedication, sacrifices, and efforts of professed women, and educates and encourages women and younger girls to follow in their footsteps, both in vowed and lay life.  This year’s theme, “Celebrating Traditions, Changing the World” ties in beautifully with International Women’s Day (IWD), a time to celebrate women’s accomplishments and raise awareness about discrimination and gender equality across the world. The theme for IWD this year is “Inspire Inclusion.” Indeed, our Visitation Sisters fit both themes perfectly!

Visitation School is blessed to share in the ministry of prayer and presence with the Minneapolis Sisters. Students join the Sisters for prayer and service at the Monastery allowing for opportunities to Live Jesus outside of school. Relationships deepen and Salesian virtues are lived out with each encounter as students witness and work with the Sisters ministering to the Northside community. On Friday, we will hear from the Sisters as well as the Visitation seniors who have committed their Saturday mornings to praying and serving with the Sisters.

If you are interested in learning more about the Visitation Sisters of Minneapolis or becoming involved with their ministry, please visit their website: Visitation Monastery of Minneapolis.

Happy Catholic Sisters Week and International Women’s Day!
