A message from the Salesian Life and Campus Ministry:
"Happy Easter! May you bring the joy of Jesus, who is risen and present in our midst, to all you meet!" –Pope Leo XIV
Easter brings the return of Alleluias and the new birth and beauty of spring. Jesus, by his suffering, death and rising to new life, shows us how love transforms darkness into light. Both the joy and hope of the Resurrection fill our hearts.
For Saint Francis de Sales, Easter was a time of holy renewal and hope. Through Christ’s Resurrection, we can faithfully and joyfully embrace the new life offered. An essential aspect of Salesian Spirituality is the creation of an interior life, centered on God. Through prayer and living out the little virtues, we “engrave” Christ in our hearts. Through our actions, we are renewed each day as we bring the joy, hope and peace of the resurrected Jesus to others.
In his Easter homily as well as his Easter Urbi et Orbi address, Pope Leo emphasized hope and peace in the Resurrection, encouraging all humankind to allow our hearts to be transformed by Christ’s immense love.
The Pope’s Easter Sunday message included a call to bring God’s hope to others: “We need this song of hope today. It is ourselves, risen with Christ, who must bring him into the streets of the world. Let us then run like Mary Magdalene, announcing him to everyone, living out the joy of the resurrection, so that wherever the specter of death still lingers, the light of life may shine.”
May we be renewed in our call to bring the joy, hope, and peace of the resurrected Christ to others. Alleluia!
