September Out of Uniform Day This Friday!

A message from Director of Campus Ministry, Kathleen Daniewicz:

Friday September 30, is our first all-school out-of-uniform day for this school year. Once a month, Visitation Campus Ministry and Service Club sponsor a day when students are invited to pay $1 (or more!) for the privilege of “dressing down” for the day. All donated funds are used to support charitable projects at Vis or are donated directly to chosen charities. Often, the ideas for donation sites come from students – they might know someone connected with a project in need of funds or volunteer at an agency that needs special help. This is a great way for our community to learn more about needs around the world.

In recent months, the world has been struck by a number of natural disasters. In response to these events, all money collected this month will be donated to Catholic Relief Services (CRS), a humanitarian aid organization active in all 50 states and more than 100 countries, with a mission of preserving and upholding the sacredness and dignity of all human life and promoting human development by responding to major emergencies, fighting disease and poverty, and nurturing peaceful and just societies.

CRS is currently providing emergency relief and medical supplies to the victims of the recent hurricane in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, the multitudes of people suffering the ongoing results of flooding in Pakistan, where more than ⅓ of the country is still under water, and those suffering the effects of the continuing fires on the west coast of the US. The organization is also providing emergency funding to bolster health facilities and additional resources in areas of the Ukraine still hard-hit by war, with emergency deliveries of critical medical resources shipping out daily.

In addition, Upper School Service Club will be sponsoring a shift at Feed My Starving Children on Saturday, October 1, from 9-10:45 a.m., to support the victims of Hurricane Fiona. Students should pick up a permission form in Ms. Kranz’s room if they are interested in participating.

So – THIS FRIDAY – please give generously to help provide resources for those in desperate situations around the world. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
