Upper School Director's Notes

Hello, Upper School Families!

We reach the final days of the school year, I am savoring every moment. When I walk through the hallways, I am filled with joy as I see two ninth grade students, arm in arm, skipping to class. I come upon another group of students tucked away in a corner as they study for their upcoming math test. The seniors, scattered amidst their commons, are enjoying time together before they embark on their service projects during the last weeks of school.

These little moments add up to a summative experience that is Visitation. As Saint Francis de Sales shares, “Every moment is an opportunity to do something ordinary with extraordinary love.” Maureen Dwyer, Theology Chairperson at Father Judge High School, shares, “One of our greatest gifts is the opportunity to be present to each other. When we are mindful of this and when we remember who and whose we are, all of our tasks are rooted in love…” During the upcoming celebrations as well as the minutiae of the day-to-day, I want to make sure that I am recognizing the moments that the ordinary becomes extraordinary because of the love shared between those who are a part of Visitation.

Seniors will complete their last day of classes on May 15. I encourage senior families to consult the senior page on the website for all events pertaining to the end-of-the-year and graduation. Ninth, tenth, and eleventh graders will complete classes on May 24 as well as celebrate the Feast of the Visitation alongside the Middle and Lower School students on May 23. Final exams will run from May 28-31. Here is detailed information pertaining to the week.

I hope that I cross paths with you at one or more events in the upcoming weeks!

Sincerely,

Anna Bachman Barter, PhD
Director of Upper School
