We are receiving many questions regarding travel and wanted to provide clarification and guidance. Visitation School is unable to monitor the travel and activities of families, faculty and staff. With that in mind, if your family chooses to travel in the coming months, please review current recommendations by state and national public health agencies and assess current COVID-19 levels in that community and determine the precautions needed after travel.

The safety measures that Visitation School has put in place together with our partnership with students and families creates a culture of health and safety needed to decrease the likelihood of COVID-19 transmission so that our students can continue on-campus instruction.

Before travel, we ask that you consider the following:

• The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) highly discourage out-of-state travel. Please go to the websites for more information regarding travel.
• Assess current COVID-19 levels in that community and determine the precautions needed after travel.
• If your family decides to travel, the CDC recommends getting tested with a viral test 3-5 days after travel AND staying home and self-quarantining for a full 7 days after travel. Here is a link to order no-cost adult and child COVID-19 Tests for use at home.
  • Even if you test negative, stay home and self-quarantine for the full 7 days.
  • If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.
• If you don't get tested, stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.
• Check travel restrictions before you travel in the United States or Internationally.
  • Please note, as of Jan. 26, 2021, the CDC requires all air passengers, including U.S. citizens arriving in the United States from a foreign country, to be tested no more than 3 days before their flight departs. Travelers must provide proof of a negative test result or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 before boarding the flight.

Does Visitation require a quarantine after travel?

When families, faculty and staff elect to travel, they must decide if their activity adhered to COVID-19 mitigation protocols such that they will not risk exposing other students or staff by returning immediately, against the MDH/CDC recommendations to quarantine. Only you can answer the question "should I quarantine before returning to school?"

Consider the following when making your decision:

• Were you able to maintain six feet of distance from anyone who did not travel with you, both indoors and outdoors?
• Did you wear a mask covering your mouth and nose when in shared spaces, including public transportation?
• If you shared a household or space with others from outside of your own household, did you and they wear masks when in shared spaces?
• Did you practice safe hand hygiene, washing often with soap and water or hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol?
• Were you around anyone who had symptoms of COVID-19 or was quarantining due to exposure or a positive test?
