Upper School Social Studies teacher Amanda Rosas was a presenter at the NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools) Annual Conference last Thursday, February 25. The conference theme was "Beyond These Doors: Activating Our Communities." Ms. Rosas co-presented a session entitled, "Creating Online Space for Student Activism Education." The session highlighted the benefits of exposing students to the history of activism in order to help them see their own roles in effecting change in our communities.

Ms. Rosas is also teaching an activism seminar this spring and summer through the online school One Schoolhouse. Her seminar asks students to consider the question: "What would make the world a better place, and how do you stand up for what you believe in?" Students create research-based activism projects and learn how to effect and measure change in their communities. Read more here.
