Greetings Lower School Families,
It has been another great week of Distance Learning. Thank you for partnering with us!
Here are some highlights of our Distance Learning program this week, including many updates.
- Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Schumacher visited students at home (socially distancing) and delivered educational materials including kites!
- We hosted an all-school, Lower School virtual convocation on Wednesday. Students made special signs featuring our Salesian virtues. Check out our video here.
- Our 1st graders were able to spend time growing their faith virtually with their 6th grade prayer buddies.
- We celebrated Grandparents' Day with a virtual Mass. Thank you, Ms. Weiss and Mrs. Zeimetz, for making this video for our beloved Grandparents.
We have Spirit days planned on Wednesdays during Distance Learning to add a little fun to our days!
- Wednesday, May 6: Hat Day
- Wednesday, May 13: PJ Day
Summer Solutions Care Program Update
The last day for our Lower School Distance Learning is Thursday, June 4. We will follow the Distance Learning plan for the duration of the school year.
During Distance Learning, we strive to engage students in such a way that they maintain momentum in their learning as well as continue to find ways to improve in their knowledge of necessary content and skills. In consultation with our Middle and Upper Schools, Visitation has decided that it is in the best interest of students to continue the academic year with grades. At the same time, the Lower School faculty understands that we are operating in unprecedented times and will continue to relax their policies so as to allow more flexibility and ensure that students are not penalized for extenuating circumstances beyond their control.
Visitation plans to postpone and host as many events as possible, including 5th Grade Graduation, Move-Up Day, Field Day, etc. We will communicate details specific to each of these events in future communications to those students and families involved.
Collecting Personal Items and Returning Textbooks
Once the stay-at-home order is lifted, we will communicate details about how students can return to campus to gather their personal items from their lockers. We will also be in touch with students and their families about returning their textbooks and iPads before the start of summer break.
Our 2020-2021 yearbooks have successfully shipped to Visitation and we will be distributing the important keepsakes to students at a future date. Stay tuned!
Lower School Virtual Town Hall

Please connect with me if I can do anything to support you!
You are all in my prayers.
